In the Beginning
February 17, 2006
So I’m in. I said I wasn’t going to ever get “in” but here I am – writing my first blog. It’s a little ironic in that I was pretty outspoken about not joining the blogging crew. It’s not that I’m anti-blogging. If people have the desire to share life through this virtual medium, I ‘m really OK with it. Some have used it as an educational/leadership venue. I’m great with that as well. The deal is that I just know me. I’m the kind of person who starts out pretty fast on something and than doesn’t see it thrugh to the end. WhileI have something to say on just about everything there are so many people who really know what they’re talking about when they open their mouths so I questioned the need for another rambling voice. Besides, I really don’t like to write – it’s so stinking restricting. You know, all that crossing your t’s and dotting your i’s stuff. Besides, you are limited to 26 letters and it’s linear. Need I say more?
So why did I cave? Well, I was convicted the other day while listening to a podcast interview between a champion of blogging and a blogging pastor. The pastor, Perry Noble of New Spring Church, SC, highlighted how useful blogging was in his church as a vision casting, heart-revealing, communication tool. A light went on for me. As we seek to reach more people with the life-giving message of Jesus, it has become painfully obvious that we need to communicate, I need to commuincate better and more often. To that end I take the plunge. I want you, the Quarry Community, to know who I am and where God is leading our church. I don’t want you to have to guess or hear it second hand so I’ll do my best to try to communicate better and more often. You probably won’t read anything truly profound or new on my blog but hopefully you will catch a glimpse of a man who is chasing after the heart of God while leading an incredible group of people who are on a similar journey. My goal in life is to glorify God and if that means I need to blog . . . then I will blog! Sweet!
Now that wasn’t so bad was it?

Michael -
Way to go buddy! You’re blogging now. I understand what you are saying about original material, there isn’t much out there about Christianity that is really new. The Word was, is, and will be the same tommorow. However, I do think that it’s a great way to share your heart and insight to the blogging community. Take care.

Welcome to the blogosphere, brother. Glad you’re with us. A bit of warning: it can become addictive.
Don’t neglect the sheep! Kidding. Welcome aboard.
